Meet Dariusz Krysta Cahir Country Market
Hello I’m Dariusz Krysta
I was born in southern Poland in 1970, and grew up in the mountains there. My grandfather had a forge, so I was introduced to the trade of blacksmith as a young child. I travelled a lot, across Europe and Asia., mountaineerining, climbing and caving, then worked as a technician with Fiat Auto. While living in Italy, I was inspired by the culture to work as a blacksmith, and later became involved in restoration as a working blacksmith there.
I moved to Ireland with my family in 2004, and have built up a welding business/ wheel repair business which I run from my workshop in Cahir. I became a member of the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Team in 2007. We provide a voluntary 24/7 rescue service encompassing the upland regions in Wexford, Waterford, Kilkenny, Carlow, Tipperary, Limerick and Cork, I am involved in about 20 call outs each year.
Four months ago I was invited to become a member of Cahir Country Market, and I have been enjoying it immensely. It has allowed me to become more involved in the community and meet local people. Their enthusiasm encourages me to continue designing and making decorative pieces.
